i went to law school for all the reasons law school deans tell college students not to go to law school. i've given this speech a thousand times. don't go to law school because you can't think of anything else to do. but i think that's why went to law school. it was a little bit of a process of elimination. it wasn't like a grant burning passionate desire. so i feel a little embarrassed about that i've saved by the falling -- i arrive in law school and a first week i was there, i thought i might have looked into this. i might be year for all the wrong reasons, but i am in the right place. i love this. and i continue to love it. so that's a great thing, to love what you do in your life. >> you have had a number of quite different jobs throughout your career. private practice, on the faculty of chicago and the clinton white house, the first woman dean of harvard, a solicitor general's office and supreme court justice. >> i can't keep a job.
